Just a few days left now until the walk this weekend and with the weather outlook improving, I can’t wait!
Walking has always been a passion of mine, not just to maintain my own fitness, but also the chance to relax and reconnect with nature and friends. I also love the chance to socialise with new, like-minded people and spend time building new connections and re-building old ones which is why I decided to do this.
There are many unseen benefits to why we should all be walking more, here’s a brief reminder:-
Walking benefits all of our lower body muscles, esp. for building our glutes & toning the thighs
Helps to turn back aging of our brains, making us more resilient, think more creatively and improves our mood
Walking is incredibly beneficial for heart health, especially hill-walking to boost our cardio-respiratory health.
Building connections with like-minded walkers boosts our sense of inclusivity and social well-being
Walking helps prevent depression and improve our happiness – the more active you are, the better the mood, especially when engaging with others in a group.
Reduces our online social media. Think “strolling not scrolling” !!
Walking boosts our metabolic health and improves digestion. Plus, when walking is done briskly or on an incline, the body’s fuel source switches to burning calories from stored body fat….also known as your active zone on some trackers.
Walking helps improve our posture and prevent back-related problems.
Aim: to walk approx 15miles to Tarporley and then get the bus back to Chester.
Too far? There will be opportunities to leave the route at Delamere Forest (return via train)/Kelsall (bus back via A54) if you don’t think you can manage til the destination.
Meet: Train to Frodsham leaves at 8.21am (meet at Chester station at 8.00am at Costa). Or meet at the Bear & Paw pub in Frodsham to leave at 8.45am
Important: Bring a packed lunch, waterproof, water, snacks, and a good pair of walking boots.
